    Finca Nueva Armenia

The quality of craftsmanship from Recinos family's Finca Nueva Armenia – in Guatemala's Huehuetenango district – is evident in every cup clean, clear notes of green apple, grape, and almond above a crisp acidity and juicy body.

Our soils are in crisis. Conventional, chemical-based farming is destroying soil health, leaving farms with increasingly barren earth.

This harvest of Finca El Puente from Marcala, Honduras, brings lighter purple-lavender and plum notes, black cherry, sugar cane sweetness and toasted nut in the finish.

Photo by Kim Elena Bullock.Upon recently returning from Central America, Counter Culture Coffee's Sustainability & Producer Relations Manager Kim Elena Bullock offers us a detailed report about her visit with the Recinos family of Finca Nueva Armenia in Huehuetenango, Guatemala. A crucial part of our direct communication with coffee farmers, such personal visits build trust and lay the groundwork for long-term, mutually supportive relationships with our producer partners at origin.  During this most recent trip to Guatemala, Kim met up with Javier and Jorge Recinos in Guatemala City, where they cupped coffee together, discussed quality development projects for the upcoming year, and visited the mill where Finca Nueva Armenia's coffee is processed for export.
