In the west of Honduras sits the little town of Marcala, and outside the town, Moises Herrera and Marysabel Caballero run the coffee farm they purchased together. Marysabel's family had been growing coffee in Marcala for generations, and Moises had learned about coffee growing while working for others in Guatemala and Honduras. They dedicated themselves to producing the highest-quality coffee they could, and when they heard about the first coffee quality contests in Honduras, they naturally entered the coffee they had so lovingly grown. Right away, their coffee started to win prizes in these contests; and coffee from their farm, called Finca El Puente, began a winning streak that is unparalleled in coffee history; this coffee placed at the top of every coffee contest it ever entered. separately, selecting only the most complex and fragrant for our lot. The coffee we offer this year is the result of the combination of 11 of these microlots. And, as you might imagine, the result is simply spectacular. This year’s crop displays El Puente's signature purple fruit flavor (bringing to mind cherries, plums, and raspberries) alongside other notes of fig and peach! The coffee is unbelievably complex and transporting. Other notes of ginger, chocolate, and an inimitable silky body belie this coffee's thoroughbred status. It's truly one of the greatest coffees ever grown, and we continue to celebrate it every year. Please join us in honoring and enjoying this great coffee. -Peter

Meanwhile, we fell in love with the magnificent coffee from Finca El Puente. Its berry-lavender aroma and silky body earned it the nickname "The Purple Princess," and we pursued it at every auction. Sometimes we were able to win some bags of the coffee at the auction, sometimes not, but always we celebrated this extraordinary coffee. Over the years, we were able to develop a personal relationship with Moises and Marysabel, and I am proud to say that for the past two years, the family has reserved almost half of their crop especially for us. It’s one of the most extraordinary coffees in the world, and Moises and Marysabel are some of the most dedicated, inspiring farmers we have ever met. We are so grateful and happy to call the Herrera-Caballero family our friends, and we are honored to roast their coffee.
