Barista Competitor Workshop

9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Highly calibrated judges help the Barista Competitor Workshop to acclimate prospective competitors with the framework of standard competition and to hone their presentation.
Participants in this workshop are competitive baristas interested in learning about current competition rules and regulations as set forth by the United States Barista Championship and World Barista Championship Committees. By the end of the workshop, each participant will have insight into the goals of the competition, the format of a barista’s performance and the judges' expectations for the competitors. This workshop assumes that its participants have a working knowledge of espresso equipment and technique and will serve to refine this knowledge into a set of skills tailored for the competition environment. This seasonal lab will be held in conjunction with scheduled regional barista competitions. For more information about competition in your region, please visit the United States Barista Championship's webpage.

Who should attend this workshop: Experienced baristas interested in competing in SCAA-sanctioned barista competitions.

Prerequisites: Competitive barista skills or barista competition experience.
