Origin Field Lab: Nicaragua
Lab Dates: January 28 - February 1, 2013
THE 2013 LAB IS FULL: We are no longer accepting applications

Since 2004, Counter Culture Coffee has hosted an Origin Field Lab in Nicaragua. On this week-long trip, students participate in each step of the coffee production process at origin – from harvest to export – and learn about the benefits and challenges of building long-term coffee relationships.
Our farmer-partners Cinco de Junio have a long-standing and deep relationship with the Fabretto Children's Foundation, a non-profit organization that works on improving education and access to education in the communities where the co-op’s members live. We are fortunate to be able to stay at the Fabretto Children’s Foundation guesthouse and immerse ourselves in the coffee process of contributing farmers from the Cinco de Junio cooperative.
Lab participants also explore the towns of Jinotega and Matagalpa for perspective on the culture and customs of the region.
More than 70 people have participated in this lab since the first trip in 2004.
