From the Road: After Ocotepeque ... El Puente

4-30-09

Fabio and Caballero and his daughter Marysabel of Finca El Puente in Marcala, Honduras, joking around with Kim Elena Bullock over coconuts. Photo by Tim Hill.Counter Culture Coffee's Sustainability & Producer Relations Manager Kim Elena Bullock filed another trip report this week that picks up where she left off from her visit with Roberto Salazar in Ocotepeque, Honduras.

Kim Elena and Head Roaster Tim Hill headed north to San Pedro Sula, Honduras, where they greeted Marysabel Caballero and her father, Fabio. Though San Pedro Sula is smaller than Honduras' capital city, Tegucigalpa, it plays an undeniably important role in Honduran coffee in general and, more specifically, in Counter Culture Coffee's lot of Finca El Puente.

Read Kim Elena's Honduras trip report for more on the effects of the climate in San Pedro Sula on coffee from Honduras, their visit to the Finca El Puente farm in Marcala, Fabio's composting project, and a beautiful waterfall that inspired the coffee's icon.

Thanks,
Nathan
