Back from the Road: Buziraguhindwa, Burundi

6-29-11

Long-time fans of Counter Culture may recall Buyer & Quality Manager Tim Hill's ground-level exploration and coffee quality development in Burundi, where he recently traveled to visit our partners at the Buziraguhindwa washing station.

In a new annotated photo report, Tim offers a broad perspective, "The market in Burundi is changing so rapidly that the infrastructure of the entire country's coffee market – including the tiny hillside producer organizations – will be unrecognizable in the future."

He also includes a step-by-step guide to the coffee production of the current year's harvest at the Buziraguhindwa washing station, introduces some of the participants key to the mill's success, and shares his enthusiasm for the producers of this area and their coffee. View the trip report slideshow in our Origins section and read the annotated photo set on Flickr.

Thanks,
Nathan
