Back from the Road: Ethiopia and Kenya, November 2011

Buyer & Quality Manager Tim Hill recently returned from a trip to Africa, where he was able to visit communities and washing stations of Ethiopia and Kenya that produce some of our favorite coffees. In two trip reports, Tim shares his opinions and insights into the recent coffee buying pasts and futures of each region.

"This year, in the spirit of Ethiopia, not afraid to change things up, we are doing quality separation and experimentation with 3 cooperatives: Haru, Idido, and Biloya," writes Tim in his trip report from Ethiopia. "Each will be not only be trying different processing than they have ever done before and different drying techniques they haven't tried before, they will be separating coffee out exclusively for Counter Culture."

Check out the annotated flickr set "Back from the Road: Ethiopia, November 2011" for more of Tim's reflections on Ethiopia, the birthplace of coffee.

For exciting news about the 2012 Kenya lots we'll be offering and our efforts to build relationships in Kenya – a country in which both laws and market forces do not especially foster long-term commitments – take a look at "Back from the Road - Kenya, November 2011."

Tim also added a bonus set of his favorite photos from his November 2011 Africa trip!

Thanks,
