The tiny village of Buziraguhindwa has built quite a reputation for quality, considering the washing station is only a few years old, and Burundi itself isn’t exactly the most famous coffee-growing origin. Ramadhan Salum, one of the owners, separated coffee from the growers around the washing station and one other community exclusively for Counter Culture. These lots tend to be our favorites – with refined and complex flavors of nectarine, date, and citrus.$15.75
This cooperative's coffee is simply impressive. Notes of citrus and dried fruit with balance and impeccable sweetness.Learn more$15.50
The country of Rwanda is perfectly suited for amazing coffee – it has good coffee varieties with an ideal climate – and it seems that with each year Rwandan coffees are getting more and more of the credit they deserve. The Remera washing station in the south of Rwanda is one one of the most impressive in the country. Remera’s coffee is exactly what we look for in Rwandan coffee: bright, crisp citrus, coupled with fruit notes of cranberry, crisp apple, and stone fruit that go perfectly with the juicy body and clean, sweet aftertaste.Learn more$15.75
Amid the tension and instability that plague the Kivu communities in eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo is a group of small-scale coffee farmers coming together to really make a name for themselves. The last few years, we have seen the development of high quality coffees there, and this year we took it even further to select out small lots from a few unique communities. Each community lot processed at the Tsheya washing station is nuanced, but all the lots are tied together by a bright citrus, stone fruit, and lightly savory notes. Learn more$15.75
