Papua New Guinea's Eastern Highlands is one of the most remote places that Counter Culture visits. The climate, rich topsoil, elevation, and unpredictable weather also make it a fascinating place to grow coffee. Boka’s farm is situated in the rolling grasslands between the village of Bonta and the Baroida estate.
Boka grew up here and was childhood friends with Nichol Colbran of the Baroida estate, another Counter Culture partner. In the 1980s, Boka participated in a government project that promoted growing coffee in the Eastern Highlands region. He planted coffee on about 25 hectares of land, which he and his son Jack Boka manage to this day. In the years that followed, he gained a reputation for producing some of the best coffee in the region. This particular selection of coffee from Boka was made possible by the Colbran family who has set up their washing station to purchase cherry from quality focused producers, keep unique coffees separate, and pay premiums for the best lots.
