The Kobuta community has been famous for quality since coffee was first planted there in the 1960s. The Colbran family works with growers on their farm and around Kobuta to continue to improve upon the quality for which this area is known. Every year, the coffee from Kobuta is impressive and distinct. This year's coffee offers notes that range from brown-sugar-like sweetness to complex notes of black tea and spices that are complemented by a soft citrus character.
Decades ago, there was a famous coffee estate in the Kobuta village in Papua New Guinea's Eastern Highlands. Left unmanaged and in disrepair, the quality this farm once had been known for had faded to nothing more than memories. Fortunately, after years of trying, the Colbran family was able to purchase the land and has since undertaken major renovations on the estate in Kobuta. The combination of Typica, Bourbon, and Arusha coffee varieties being grown in an ideal climate for quality results in Kobuta often times being our favorite coffee from Papua New Guinea.
