You’ll never catch curly-haired Alex Brown without a smile – or a cup of great coffee. The culinary-school graduate has always been happiest with a cast-iron skillet in one hand and a portafilter in the other, but since starting with Counter Culture in 2008 he’s turned his chef’s whites for espresso-covered shoes. In 2011 he put his CCC Coffee Steward certification chops to the test as a sensory judge in the Southeast Regional Barista Championships, and he’s always in search of the next great taste.

Alex’s wife and cat – Anna and CK Dexter Haven, respectively – keep him company at home.
