Jesse began his time in specialty coffee working as a barista at a coffee shop in Raleigh, North Carolina: Jubala Coffee. He's a one-time Thursday Night Throwdown winner, and a CCC Certified Coffee Steward and Barista.

Jesse spends a lot of his free time playing music: he sings and plays guitar and dobro, but will give just about anything with strings a try. He is also an aspiring baker trying to perfect his buttermilk biscuit, buttermilk cornbread, and buttermilk cinnamon roll recipes. He currently lives in Wake Forest, North Carolina, with his wife Whitney and son Harden.
