2022 Seeds Fund Recipient

Mokha Story was awarded a 2022 Seeds grant to procure and plant 800 Ja'adi-variety coffee seedlings and dig a water well on a new plot of land in Yemen’s notoriously arid Haraz mountains. The new surface water well will help irrigate these climate-adapted trees, increasing the production of coffee, creating at least three new jobs, and enabling Mokha Story to grow. Mokha Story unofficially named this new plot the "Counter Culture Farm" and it's first harvest should be ready in 2026.

Seeds Program

Counter Culture Coffee collects $0.01 from every pound of coffee sold to fund our Seeds program. Annually, $1 per pound of our winter coffee blend, Iridescent, goes to further increase our contribution. Seeds offers financial grants to producers and producer organizations we work with to implement sustainability projects they identify as beneficial. To date, we’ve allocated over $280,000 to Seeds projects.
