Finca El Puente is owned by Marysabel Caballero and Moisés Herrera. Marysabel, a third-generation coffee farmer, met Moisés, an accountant, when he was sent to manage the Honduran operations of a Guatemalan coffee company. They fell in love, married, and established Finca El Puente on land in Chinacla that Moisés owned. Over the years, Moisés and Marysabel’s farm and family have grown, but they remain steadfast in their dedication to producing the highest-quality coffee possible. Their effort has paid off: coffee from Finca El Puente has won several awards and is regularly featured in premier cafes across the globe.
Finca El Puente is one of the most innovative farms in the world, making constant improvements in all aspects of their coffee production. Recently, tweaks to their washed processing resulted in a 90% reduction in water used to wash the coffee, with no loss to quality. Marysabel and Moisés also strive to be excellent employers, retaining workers year-round, improving their housing, and investing in schools for their employee’s children and the greater community.
Though Finca El Puente is known for growing and testing unique coffee varieties, this coffee is 100% Catuai, the most popular variety on their farm. We worked with them to select the best lots from peak harvest for this year’s offering, which sings with notes of apricot, nougat, and cocoa.
