As winter turns to spring, members of the CODECH cooperative’s three primary associations begin harvesting their coffee cherries and processing them on their farms. Hundreds of growers deliver their coffee to the CODECH bodegas, and from each delivery, a sample is drawn for tasting by their team of expert quality analysts. Many of these deliveries are blended together based on similar levels of quality, and sold as either bulked or regional lots. When a farmer delivers a coffee that is head-and-shoulders above the rest, it’s set aside to offer at a premium that rewards quality. 

In the past several years, we’ve noticed a few producers that consistently find their place among the top scorers, Juana Escobar Gaspar foremost among them. After hundreds of cups tasted, Juana’s coffee was once again identified by the cooperative as one of their best this harvest, and we couldn't agree more. This lot is not only a celebration of a quality-focused producer’s hard work, but also a shining example of the balanced, fruit-forward profile of this storied growing region.
