Coffees For This Week

01
Single-Origin | Las Sabanas, Nicaragua
Cinco de Junio
apple | dark chocolate | almond
Roast Level
light roast
Located in the department of Madriz, the Cinco de Junio cooperative is our oldest partnership in Nicaragua. Since we started buying from the group in 2009, economic and political conditions, as well as climate change, have forced the cooperative and its members to adjust their production practices to continue making the best coffee possible. Though their quality has, at times, wavered, their perseverance has not. This season’s lot delivers classic flavors of pear, dark chocolate, and almond.

Subscriber-Exclusive | Marcala, Honduras
Finca El Puente SL-28 Variety
green apple | lime | crisp
Roast Level
light roast
SL-28 is a legend in the coffee world. First selected in the 1930s by Scott Agricultural Laboratories in Kenya, the variety quickly earned recognition for its resilience and exceptional cup quality. Though it originated from a single tree discovered in Tanzania and carries a Bourbon-like genetic background, SL-28 rose to prominence in East Africa for producing some of the most complex and memorable coffees ever grown.Today, this iconic variety has found a new home in southern Honduras at Finca El Puente, where husband-and-wife team Marysabel Caballero and Moisés Herrera cultivate it with the same dedication and precision that make their farm world-renowned. Their SL-28 is among the finest expressions we’ve tasted outside Africa: beautifully balanced yet wonderfully complex, with green apple sweetness, mouth-watering lime, and a crisp, clean finish.
