For Perennial we use a 60/40 blend of a light roast from Colombia and a darker roast from Burundi. This approach brings juicy fig notes, sweet dark chocolate flavors, and a heavier mouthfeel to the cup.
The light roast coffee comes from our long-term partners at the Orgánica cooperative in the region of Cauca, Colombia. They have produced coffee for our La Golondrina offering since 2007. Over the years, they've become one of the strongest organizations we work with and they consistently produce some of the best organic coffees in Colombia.
The darker roast portion of Perennial is from Kayanza, Burundi. We roast our single-origin offering, Mpemba, a bit darker to bring out the deep notes in this coffee. The coffee we buy from the village of Mpemba is produced by a small, dedicated cooperative called Kazoza N'Ikawa, which means "the future is the coffee.” Founded in 2012, the co-op consistently produces some of the most refined and sweetest coffees in Burundi.
