This coffee is the result of a unique supply stream for Counter Culture. The community of Santafé has been producing coffee since the 1960s and, until recently, selling their coffees for minimum market prices to traders in a nearby town. In 2016, Carlos Torres Burbano and Angela Patiño Findlay started Toldopamba Coffee to help smallholder coffee producers improve the quality of their coffee, implement more sustainable agricultural practices, and access premiums from markets that value both. In the field and in their laboratory on Carlos’ mother’s farm, the couple provides technical assistance and tasting feedback to farmers. This is our sixth season purchasing Santafé and it is consistently one of our favorite offerings from Nariño. We taste sweet notes of cherry and vanilla with a juicy mouthfeel.
