2024 Seeds Fund Recipient

Muungano has been awarded a 2024 Seeds Grant to support transitioning from traditional charcoal use to sustainable energy alternatives. Through training women in ecological briquette and biochar production, this initiative will reduce deforestation, provide safer economic opportunities, and enhance soil health for coffee farming. By establishing renewable energy shops and community-led savings groups, the project empowers participants with financial independence while fostering environmental sustainability and resilience.

    Seeds Program

Counter Culture Coffee collects $0.01 from every pound of coffee sold to fund our Seeds program. Annually, $1 per pound of our winter coffee blend, Iridescent, goes to further increase our contribution. Seeds offers financial grants to producers and producer organizations we work with to implement sustainability projects they identify as beneficial. To date, we’ve allocated over $450,000 to Seeds projects.
