2024 Seeds Fund Recipient

The Organica Cooperative has been awarded a 2024 Seeds Grant to purchase essential equipment for their sensory analysis lab. Dedicated to improving the living conditions of coffee-producing families, Organica has had Counter Culture as their main client since 2006. Now, Organica is entering a new phase of development, taking greater ownership of quality control and partnering with an exporter solely for milling and logistics.

The grant will enable Organica to purchase a sample roaster, a crucial tool for quality evaluation. With this equipment, they can conduct precise sensory analyses to ensure their coffee meets their buyers' standards. This investment in quality control is expected to benefit the cooperative's members by securing better prices and expanding market access.

Counter Culture Coffee collects $0.01 from every pound of coffee sold to fund our Seeds program. Annually, $1 per pound of our winter coffee blend, Iridescent, goes to further increase our contribution. Seeds offers financial grants to producers and producer organizations we work with to implement sustainability projects they identify as beneficial. To date, we’ve allocated over $450,000 to Seeds projects.
