Ingredients:
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup cherries (fresh or frozen)
- 2–3 tbsp sliced almonds
- ¼ tsp almond extract (optional)
- Pinch of salt
Method:
- Combine water and sugar in a saucepan and bring to a simmer until sugar is dissolved.
- Add cherries and almonds to the base.
- Simmer gently for 10 minutes, lightly mashing the cherries as they soften to release their color and flavor.
- Remove from heat, cover, and steep for 10–15 minutes.
- Strain through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth.
- Stir in the salt and almond extract. Let cool before use.
The Recipe: Cherry on Top Latte
- 1 oz Cherry Almond Syrup
- 2 oz Perennial Espresso
- 6–8 oz Steamed milk (or cold milk for iced)
To Serve it Hot: Add the syrup to your favorite mug. Pull your Perennial espresso directly over the syrup and stir. Steam your milk of choice and pour, finishing with a bit of latte art.
To Serve it Iced: Add the syrup to a glass, followed by the espresso. Stir well to combine. Add 8 oz of cold milk, stir again, and top with plenty of ice.
