Chilled Lemon Ginger Toddy Recipe

Ingredients

  • 384 grams water
  • 128 grams sugar
  • 192 grams of fresh lemon juice
  • ~2 inch root of ginger chopped into ½ inch pieces
  • 128 grams honey or agave nectar
  • Ice
  • 57 grams (2 ounces) of brewed coffee (we recommend Apollo or Fast Forward)
  • Nutmeg for garnish
  • Optional: A shot of bourbon or whiskey

  • Instructions

    1. Make a lemon simple syrup. Bring 128 grams of water and 128 grams of sugar to a boil in a small saucepan. Simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature. Stir in the lemon juice and set aside.
    2. Make a honey ginger syrup. In a saucepan, combine 256 grams of water, chopped ginger, and honey (or agave), and simmer on medium for an hour, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature. Strain out the ginger pieces and store in the refrigerator until ready to use. 
    3. In a cocktail shaker with ice, shake to combine 7 grams lemon simple syrup, 14 grams ginger honey syrup, and coffee. Add in your shot of whiskey or bourbon to make it spiked!
    4. Pour into a glass of your choice and garnish with shaved nutmeg. 
    5. Enjoy!
